Every time I hear that fucking leitmotif I break out in hives, I feel like I could run straight through a concrete wall. This expansion was the one that solidified that FFXIV was the game for me, from the fucking post ARR quests to the final trial, this expansion blew me the fuck away, I finished it in 2 weeks. Looking back, this definitely isn't better than Shadowbringers or even Endwalker, but it is a fantastic way to introduce players who have been beaten bloody by ARR to the rest of the story, and it definitely blows ARR out of the water. I also love how they subvert your expectations with the whole dragon war, up to this point you're given no indication that dragons are even sentient in this universe and then suddenly you have to grapple with the fact that they're a deeply traumatized people who have been locked in this century long cycle of violence with those they thought were their allies, and you've been actively encouraging and participating in it. My husband is also in this expansion….
