Gags are the main way Toons combat cogs. The logic behind it is that cogs are so funless and uptight that even seeing something funny hurts them. The logic that I came up with as a kid was that the gags actively harm the cogs inner workings, like the water from squirt gags shorting out their circuits. Personally, I think the canon explanation is funnier.
Every Toon starts with the squirt and throw gags and can get more by completing various gag tracks gotten through certain toontasks. There are 7 gag types in total, but only 6 can be gotten on a single Toon. This is where some Toon build challenges come from, like getting only trap but no lure or choosing all the damage dealing gags and leaving out Toon-up.
